Member Profile: Janet MacDonald
Janet brings a wealth of talent, experience, and ideas to the position. Janet MacDonald is particularly interested in learning through all modes, from formal coursework to involvement in ASQ programs to, especially, networking with people both formally and informally. Jan finds she learns something from brief conversations, as well as long-term relationships. From my talks with her I have learned that, while possessing an extraordinarily impressive list of academic and other accomplishments, it is Jan's down-to-earth and positive nature that most shines through. She says that "Learn and enjoy" pretty much sum up her outlook on life.
Janet first became interested in the formal study of quality while she was studying at Madonna University, and after finishing her Masters in Business Administration she began another in Quality, moving from theory to application, and into the field of auditing. To maintain her certificate, it was recommended that Jan participate in an ASQ section, and she has been involved with the GDS ever since. Her accreditations include ISO 9000 Auditor Training/ Certification, the CQIA, CQMgr and CQA. Having spent a great deal of time in Alberta, Janet is also a member of the Calgary ASQ section, finding it interesting to see how other sections operate.
Besides travel, teaching is a great passion for Jan, and behind her involvement in the GDS Education department, primarily in the CQE program. She credits the five Section Chairs she has worked with as being a "walk the talk" group of individuals, and especially Dr. Rajinder Kapur, who has influenced so many of us to become involved in this organization. As you can see in the "From the Chair" article above, Jan's vision is clear and her energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and I look forward to great accomplishments in her furthering the work of Ben Ramnani and previous Section Chairs.
