When I consider all ASQ has meant for me as a professional, and for me
as
a person, I am humbled, and proud. I am humbled by those around me in the
ASQ community, and proud to be among you.”
Chairs, Newsletter Editors, and Internet Liaisons:
The words above are from ASQ’s president’s message written
specifically for
the ASQ 60th anniversary. But while the message as a whole was written for
the moment, these words are for the ages—and reflect the same feelings
many
of us have. While we, as member leaders, focus on moving the Society
forward, we also need to take a look outside, see what others are doing
and
saying, and celebrate.
Here are four items for you to peruse, visit, and talk about - all concerning
the ASQ 60th anniversary.
1. An ASQ’s 60th anniversary news release was sent to the media this
week. It announced this exciting event and can be found in the ASQ
Media Room.
2. A Web site dedicated to the anniversary launched and is housed at
http://www.asq.org/60/.
3. Download and use the 60th anniversary icon located at
http://asqgroups.asq.org/sectionvolunteercommunity/,
under Operating
Tools and Templates (left column). The icon is available as a gif
(60yrsQuality) for your Web site and jpg (60yrsQuality2) for print
materials.
4. We want you to share your events and stories! And encourage your
membership to do the same.
The first three items speak for themselves. Please take a look at the
news
release and the Web site to, among other things, read the rest of Jerry
Mairani’s message to us.
Now, about the fourth item. We know that many of you have local
celebrations planned or in the planning process. It would be wonderful to
share those events with fellow member leaders and members. It would also
be a great thing for members to add their stories to the site. There are
a
few already gracing the 60th anniversary site, so please take a look. You
can share your stories at www.asq.org/60/stories/submit.html
and send news
of your events to Linda Milanowski, ASQ Community Care administrator.
Please visit this site throughout the year. Please encourage your members
to do the same. Stories will be added, events will be reported on. We not
only celebrate the past and present, we celebrate the prospects for a
bright future.
Happy Anniversary and Thank You,
Clay Hodges Gary Johnson
